The Role

We are looking to recruit a NEBOSH certified HSE Advisor to join our H&S Department based at our Lancaster Mill. The successful candidate will primarily support the site on all safety, health and compliance matters to ensure compliance with statutory obligations is maintained. They will also be required to support the H&S Manager on a wide range of central HSE matters which will enable them to effectively provide ongoing support to our Carlisle and Stone Mills as required.

The HSE Advisor will take a lead role in promoting a positive health and safety culture across the company and will assist in the development of annual site Health & Safety plans and targets, contribute to the company’s Improvement Plan and assist the H&S Manager with the development and implementation of relevant policies and procedures. The role also requires the successful candidate to coordinate the development of SSWi and manage the completion of task-based risk assessments and other statutory risk assessments.

Skills and Experience Required 

The successful HSE Advisor is required to have the following skills and experience:

  • Hold a NEBOSH Certificate. A Diploma would be advantageous but is not essential.
  • Demonstrable experience of working within a manufacturing environment. A background in animal feed manufacturing would be desirable.
  • Minimum of 3 years working in a similar role.
  • Extensive understanding of the general principles of Health, Safety and Environment, including risk assessments, COSHH, CDM and manual handling.
  • Knowledge of ISO45001 would be advantageous.
  • Strong IT skills.
  • Take a proactive approach to work and be able to confidently challenge current ways of working and suggest improvements.
  • Be a team player as well as being able to working using own initiative.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate with stakeholders at all levels of the business as well as external stakeholders.
  • Full driving licence and be able to travel to all company locations as required.
