Name: Ellie Harrison
Job title: Company Quality Controller
How long have you been with Billington Group?
I have worked out of Carrs Billington in Lancaster for the past three years, but was in other roles at another site with this company for another two years prior to that.
Describe a typical day in your role:
I can be checking production records, studying analytical trends, carrying out an internal audit on a production site or department, training new members of staff on animal feed safety amongst many other things!
What’s the best part of your job?
Having the freedom to be your own boss and plan your own days/weeks to suit the needs of the different sites/departments.
What makes the food/agriculture sector exciting to work in?
Agriculture is an increasingly controversial topic and working in this area provides the most valuable insight into where our food comes from and how important it is for Britain.
What do you think the next big thing for food/agriculture will be?
I think we may start to see an increase in the development and production of higher protein plants that can be grown in the UK, to help satisfy the increasing demand for plant based human diets and sustainable agriculture.
Can you describe Billington Group in three words?
Diverse. Quality. Aware.
Now a bit more about you….
