CAN YOU TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOUR JOB ROLE?
I recently started as a Commercial Manager at EPC, based in Newbury, looking after our B2B customers. It’s a varied role with people at the heart of everything we do, whether that’s internal or external, good communication and people skills are crucial.
WHAT ATTRACTED YOU TO COME AND WORK FOR ENGLISH PROVENDER COMPANY?
Having worked with English Provender Company in my previous role, I was already aware of the amazing product range and innovation culture, but ultimately it was the people and company culture that attracted me to work here at EPC.
CAN YOU TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOUR CAREER BEFORE STARTING YOUR NEW ROLE?
I trained as a Chef after leaving school, and was leading my own kitchen team at 19, working for Compass Group, Whitbread & Marriott. I then moved on to work for British Midland International (which is now a part of British Airways), working as an Onboard Chef, cooking at 39,00ft for 1st Class passengers around the world.
After being made redundant by BA I combined my love of food & aviation and joined an independent airline catering business based in Park Royal as a Business Development Manager, which was my first commercial role. I then joined Greencore Northampton as a Business Manager where I worked for nearly 8 years, predominantly managing the M&S Food On the Move business, before moving to my current role with EPC.
WHAT ARE YOU PASSIONATE ABOUT OUTSIDE OF WORK?
Food and travel will always be two of my passions. My favourite destination is Italy, particularly Tuscany & Umbria, the people and the food are amazing and the weather is superb.
I also enjoy archery and football, and coach rugby for my local club Northampton Old Scouts RFC at under 11`s.
WHERE IS THE MOST INTERESTING PLACE YOU HAVE TRAVELLED TO?
During my time working for an airline, I spent a lot of time in the Middle East, including Saudi Arabia, Iran, Syria & Lebanon. However, the most interesting place I have visited is India, purely because of the vast diversity on offer, from the busy streets of Mumbai to the lush plantations in the mountains. The food is amazing and the people so welcoming, I’d thoroughly recommend a visit if the opportunity arises!
